Wrap (sport)
See also: Cape
A wraps is a cap which symbolizes the selection of a sportsman in the national team of his country. This term is particularly used in Rugby.
This tradition was invented in England, before being adopted in France. On the other hand, in the southern hemisphere (South Africa, Australia, New Zealand), one adopted the habit of the Blazer carrying the escutcheon of the national federation, given to the player during his first selection.
The cape exposed to the English museum of the Rugby to Twickenham is that of French, Arthur Guillemard (founding member of the English federation whose it held also the presidency), which played, with the team of England, the first international match of Rugby (Scotland - England), on March 27th 1871.
