Worldwide games

The Worldwide games ( World Games in English), which was held for the 1st time in 1981, are an event multi-sport, gathering sports which are not registered with the Olympic Games. The Worldwide games are organized by the International association of the Worldwide games ( International World Games Association - IWGA), directed, it, by the International Olympic committee (CIO).

Some of these sports were present at the program of the Olympic Games in demonstration (like the Triathlon) or were even Olympic disciplines in the past (like the Tir with the cord). Since August 12th, 2004, to have taken part in the preceding worldwide games belongs to the criteria of evaluation used to select the new Olympic sports adoptee by the CIO.

Among the sports present at the worldwide games, let us quote, the Squash, the Bodybuilding, the Roller, the Rugby, the Course of orientation… The diciplines include with the worldwide games must adapt to the infrastructures present in the city host, no new infrastructure does not have to be built for the plays. In general, 25 to 35 sports are present by edition. A competition is organized for the sports classified like " démonstration" but no medal is given. Even if a sport is recognized by the IWGA, it can always be classified " démonstration" by the host city.
