The Worldwide association of the newspapers (in English World Association off Newspapers or WAN) is a Governmental organization of defense of the Freedom of the press.
Founded in 1958 and based in Paris, this association has nonlucrative goal gathers 72 national associations of press amongst other things, that is to say more than 18.000 newspapers out of the five continents, 72 national associations of editors, of the individual news directors in 102 countries, 11 news agencies and nine organizations of regional press and international.
Association regularly gives the Plume of gold of freedom to reward freedom of expression under difficult conditions.
Association is member of the International Freedom off Expression Exchange (IFEX), a world virtual network of ONG which are supposed to supervise the violations with the Freedom of expression and which organizes, federates or relays the campaigns joint or organized by its members, for the defense of the journalists, writers and other persecuted people whereas they exert their right to freedom of expression.
