The Worldwide association of hockey - AMH (in English: World Hockey Association - WHA) is an old professional sports association gathering teams of Hockey of the Canada and the the United States.
It was founded in 1971 and lasted until the end of the season 1978-79
The new league makes feel its presence immediately whereas it subtilizes several players with the LNH of which the very famous Bobby Hull which signs then with the Jets of Winnipeg for the sum of a million Dollars, an amount without precedent at the time. Contrary to the LNH which requires a minimum age for the entry of the players in the league, the AMH does not have a standard and it is 16 years old that the young player plays for Racers then for the Oilers d' Edmonton: it is about Wayne Gretzky. One of the others advanced had mainly with the AMH is that of the presence of European players .
In 1979, the AMH not managing to attract the fans uniformly is seen forced to stop its activities and four of its teams, the Oilers d' Edmonton, the Jets of Winnipeg, the Nordiques of Quebec and the Whalers de Hartford join the LNH, whereas the Stingers of Cincinnati and bulldozers of Birmingham receive an amount of money as a compensation for closing for the league.

Bob Neely and Blair Chapmanhad never played in association and Pat Price did not have a very high contract but remained only one season before leaving to play for the Islanders of New York.
