The World economic forum ( FEM , World Economic Forum in English) is a meeting of politicians and heads of undertaking which aims to provide an environment of collaboration to most powerful of this world, with an aim of improving the economic situation. It is defined itself as “an international organization independent invested in the improvement of the state of the world while engaging of the leaders in associations to form total, regional and industrial day orders”.
It was created in 1971 by Maris Livanos-Cattaui (under the name of European Forum of management), which occupied the Général position of director of it. It was a long time club an European of managers of undertaking brought together on the initiative of Klaus Schwab, professor of management. The group, based in Switzerland, evolved/moved to become a major actor in the definition and the installation of a total diary of Libéralisation of the economy and rules of the World commerce. For this reason, it mainly represents the sectors of businesses European and American. The distribution in 2002 is the following one: Europe 43%, North America 26%, Asia 13%, Central America and of the South 7,5%, the Middle East 4,5%, Africa 4,3% and Australasia 2,2%.
This meeting, which takes place usually with Davos in Suisse, is very disputed by the movements altermondialists, because of the subjectivity of the improvements which are considered there. In reaction, they created the Worldwide social forum.
