World cup of baseball 2001

The World cup of baseball 2001 is the 34e edition of this test putting at the catches the best national selections. The final stage was held of the 6 with the November 18th 2001 with Taiwan.

Format of the tournament

The sixteen participating teams are divided into two groups of eight. Each selection plays against the seven other teams of its group at the time of the first turn. The four best teams qualify themselves for the final stage with direct elimination (quarterfinals, semi-finals, finales and matches of classification). If a team carries out of more than 10 points after the beginning of the 7th handle, the match is stopped ( mercy rule ).

Final classification

The eight other teams do not have a final classification, not having played the ones against the others.
