World cup of baseball
The World cup of Baseball is an international competition putting at the catches the national selections under the aegis of the International federation of baseball. This test is played every two years since 1974, with the exception of 1992 and 1996, Olympic years. Previously, the competition was annual. Two editions took place in 1973 after the creation of the Federación Mundial de Béisbol Amateur (FEMBA) resulting from one scission inside the FIBA.
The World cup of baseball 2007 was held of the 6 with the November 18th with Taiwan. This edition saw the victory of the the United States over Cuba, stopping the series of nine titles acquired by the Cubans since 1984.
History
The World cups disputed before the Second world war were reclassified like world cups a posteriori. It acted with the orgine of a simple international tournament.The cuban selection crushes the prize lists with 25 victories in the test in 29 participations.
Format of competition
For the last editions, the competition is held in two phases: a phase of qualification per continent and a final stage implying sixteen national selections. This final stage is held on ten days in the form of tournament with a hen phase (two groups of eight), then a phase with direct elimination with quarterfinals, semi-finals and finale on only one match.
