World cup of Alpine skiing 1970
The World cup of Alpine skiing 1970 begins the December 10th 1969 with the Femmes giant from Valley-in Isere and finishes the March 15th 1970 with the Hommes slalom of Voss.
The Men dispute 36 tests (including 8 tests index B with undervalued scale): 10 descents, 12 giants and 14 slaloms.
The Women dispute 26 tests: 5 descents, 9 giants and 12 slaloms.
The championships of the world are disputed with Val Gardena 7 with the February 15th 1970 and their tests count for the general classification of the world cup.
Honnor roll
Karl Schranz (148 points) precedes of a wire Patrick Russel (145 points) and Gustavo Thöni (140 points). More complete skier, the Austrian , 31 years, marks 18 invaluable points in slalom whereas its young adversaries do not dispute the descent. In addition, Karl Schranz gains a second K of diamond: it is a single exploit in the history of the ski.
Advent of Gustavo Thöni (19 years):
- victory as of its first race (giant of Valley-in Isere),
- victorious of the world cup of giant and third place with the general at the conclusion of his first season.
The French dominate the Femmes world cup and trustent:
- the first 4 places of general classification with Michele Jacot, Francoise Macchi, Florence Steurer and Ingrid Lafforgue,
- 3 crystal balls: Isabelle Mir in descent, Michele Jacot as a giant and Ingrid Lafforgue in slalom,
- 17 of the 26 tests.
Michele Jacot is the most complete skier and becomes the first and single French to gain the world cup of ski.
