World Wide Association off Specialty Programs and Schools

General

The World Wide Association Off Specialty Programs and Schools ( WWASP or WWASPS ) is an organization sitting in Utah, the United States. WWASP was rested by Robert Lichfield.

WWASP seems to function in co-operation with a certain number of other companies offering the similar programs and means. First Educational Seminars (First Educational Systems) is one of these companies, but there is much more.

Objectives

According to him, WWASP can correct the specific types of human behavior, perceived like inadequate by their parents or the company in general, in the 12 year old children and more. Each school and each program are independently had. WWASP claims to have helped more: 25000 teenagers and their families.

Residences

WWASP operates, or is associated with companies, everywhere in the world and particularly in the United States and Mexico

Allegations of ill-treatments

WWASP received many allegations of physical, emotional and mental ill-treatments against the personnel of the schools. Indeed their technique of change of the personality, is applied with violence and humiliation, to calm the nerves of its boarders WWASP obliges the children to remain lengthened sometimes on the belly during several days of sharp (of other several weeks).

The contract that the parents sign stipulates the use of paralyzing gas, electric bludgeons, shackles, and various means of application. passages to tabas regularly occur on the recalcitrant ones with the dires victims, going even until sexual humiliations, even of the rapes.

In August 2004, a lawsuit took place between WWASP and P.U.R.E. WWASP tried to prevent P.U.R.E from giving an account of the allegations made by former residents and their families. During this case Ken Kay (president of WWASP) once enquis of the allegations of sexual abuse made against of the residents of the residences of WWASP declared that in its opinion, the sexual activity between the members of personnel and the students are not necessarily an ill-treatment.

By The Sea, a service of WWASP close to Ensenada put, with the Mexico was closed in September 2004 following an investigation of the local authorities which discovered evidence of ill-treatments. A certain number of other residences also changed their names to avoid negative publicity resulting from the allegations of former residents.

Dundee Ranch was closed on May 26th, 2003 after one week of riots, vandalism and escapes of students. The revolt of the students was caused by a governmental intervention ordered by the office of the Prosecutor who has to study the allegations of ill-treatments and the fact that students “is held” in Dundee against their will.

Contradictory reports/ratios of former residents

The opinions of the former residents of WWASP are divided. A certain part affirms that the program saved them death or of a tragic destiny, whereas others bring back the psychological traumatism of their stay. However, in some of these testimonys of former students, they claim that it was required them that they believe that the program saved them of a terrible destiny in order to avoid the punishment and to gain points of merit. These points of merit were employed in the internal systems, which dictated the level freedom and of the access to certain freedoms allowed each student. The students limited to the level low are authorized to communicate only with the personnel and the students of more raised levels, it is to them also interdict to have a contact with their parents. The articles relating to WWASPS often quote parents very satisfied with the program. Some criticisms allot this effect to a cognitive dissonance: the programs are somewhat expensive, and if they are looked like a failure later, the parents should recognize their own error, and worse, that they spent of the thousands of dollars in a program which has finally night with their children.

Psychology

The parents are encircled by a machine of cranium stuffing say some. Indeed at the time of seminars for the parents one persuades them during ceremonies more or less religious that WWASP saved their family and the life of their children. They make gleam with the families and the students of the diplomas which the teenagers will obtain by the WWASP but which does not have actually any value nor equivalence in the USA and nowhere in the world (some will not follow any course with WWASP). The astronomical sums requested from the parents, is: 30000 $ per year (price charged in 2004), are there to justify alleged serious this association (officially with nonlucrative goal).

There are large recruitment campaigns in the USA, where the parents who wish it are heard by a psychologist of WWASP, where it is often said to them that their child is in danger and that WWASP is the only solution to save them. Some tell that their child was only in crisis of adolescence but which they were nevertheless let convince.

Polemic concerning the American institutions

This often lends to debate, but it seems that no investigation is made on behalf of the American state around the intrigues of WWASP neither by the F.B.I, nor by the dedicated services. One can include/understand this phenomenon when it is known that WWASP is one of the most generous giver to the Republican party.

One can recall that the United States is the only countries in the world with the Somalia not to have ratified the Convention of the rights of the child, which can explained that many center of WWASP one closed abroad (Mexico, Costa-Rica, Czech Republic) but that the centers étasunien S remain open and without any glance on behalf of the authorities.

Polemic concerning the Church of Jesus-Christ of the Saints of the Last Days

The fact that the two founders are Mormons has to create a hostility on behalf of associations of child welfare and media towards the church based with Salt Lake City.
