World Showcase

World Showcase is a whole of houses devoted to various nations and had around a lake in the park with topics EPCOT Walt Disney World Resort.

The unit is organized around a central lake of 10 ha, is baptized World Showcase Lagoon . Eleven countries are represented within these houses. A twelfth house fits in this list and serves as second entrance point with the park.

Each house contains shops and representative restaurants and its team is made up inhabitants of the country. Some include/understand attractions or films. They are sponsored and financed by the institutions of the state which they represent, and of the tourist booklets are easily accessible. This sponsorship also explains why the houses of the Russia, the Spain and Israel never exceeded the phase of projet : they decided not to finance a pavillon.

Contrary to the Magic Kingdom which does not propose any alcohol, several shops and restaurants of the World Showcase serve or sell alcoholic drinks of their country and beer is sold in the stands of cooling everywhere in the park. Several spaces are still available, the current houses have practically all the same width. One can thus deduce that six additional houses (to the maximum) could be built: between Mexico and Norway, two between China and Germany, between Germany and Italy, as between Japan and Morocco finally another between Morocco and France.

Mexico

The house resembles an Aztec pyramid perched at the edge of a lake with some more recent low constructions (dating from Spanish colonization) separating it from water. Afterwards before penetrated in the pyramid, the visitors can admire an exposure of Mexican art located in the base of the moment. The exposure from time to time changes

  • Splendeurs of the golden age of 1982 to 1989
  • Règne of Glory of 1990 to 1999
  • Animales Fantasticos since 2001

Then the visitors arise on the place of a village. The Plaza of los Amigos is a Mexican market with a fountain, stalls and carriages under a twilight sky permanent (even technical that for the Pirates of the Caribbean). Since this place several elements are accessible:

  • at the bottom on the right the traditional restaurant San Angel Inn
  • on the right the shop Familia proposes clothing
  • on the left, the shop Artesanias Mexicanas gathers memories of the country
  • at the bottom with hgauche is the entry of attraction Gran Fiesta Tour

Apart from the pyramid, the restaurant Cantina de San Angel , with a Mexican type of fast-food industry, offers a unspoilable view on the lagoon. It is been next to by a shop, El Ranchito del Norte .

Norway

In order to be most realistic possible, the house takes the aspect of a Norwegian village imaginary but composed of counterpart of real buildings. The house was added only the May 6th 1988. It takes as a starting point cities like Bergen, Setesdal or Oslo. One finds a counterpart of the Stavkirke (church out of wooden) of Hopperstad or Forteresse of Akershus to Oslo. The house is spread out over 5.400 m ².

The stavkirke is located at entered northern of the house and accommodates an exposure and the remainder of the house is composed of inter-connected spaces meeting at the end of a short street and forming the entry of attraction Maelstrom . The exposure changed during the years:

  • Thousand years of discovered (until 1990) on the maritime Vikings travellers,
  • At the end of the World (1990 with?) on polar forwardings.

Behind the church toilets are and since 2001 a surface two plays for children within a Drakkar Viking.

The northern wing comprises a whole of shops, named The Puffin' S Roost , while the southern wing lodges the Restaurant Akershus . The shops are decorated with large trolls out of wooden and sell Norwegian objects of which traditional clothing, miniature sugar refineries or statues trolls. A small pastry making, Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe is intercalated between the church and the shops.
