World Jamboree of 1963

The world jamboree of 1963 , is the eleventh Jamboree scout. It was held in Skinias close to Marathon in Greece. It gathered nearly 14.000 Scout S come from 89 countries and 300 foreign journalists.

Jamboree has as a currency " higher, more grand" and its emblem combines the shield (symbol of the force of the ideals scouts) and olive-tree (symbol of peace) connects it.

The organization of the camp

The site and the history of Greece are favourable with the sports activities and the ancient topic. Thus, after the opening ceremony, chaired by the crown prince, of many sports activities follow one another. The first day, symbolically, 87 campers run of Marathon to Athens to carry a message to the mayor of the city which reads it with its citizens and the world.

The scouts on then the occasion to practice various sports such as swimming - in the very close sea - or of the tennis shoe. The marine scouts organize a regatta.

After the world scout chief proposed with the scouts present to renew their promises, symbolically, the torch passed to three scouts American, country where the nearest jamboree will be held.
