The World Islamic League , (has: Al Rabita Al-alam el-islami or Al Rabita ; in: World Muslim League or WML) is a ONG Musulman E founded in 1962 with Mecque by Prince Fayçal with the assistance of representatives of 22 country to promote the Panislamisme in opposition to the Panarabisme nassérien.

Objectives

Its objectives are, according to the principal site and the site of the mosque of Geneva: to propagate Islam, to elucidate uncertainties concerning the religion, to fight against the false allegations aiming to destroy the unit Moslems or to throw the doubt in their spirit, to convince Moslem of the need for obeying God all while helping them to solve the problems encountered in this company, to undertake projects as regards Islamic propaganda, of education and culture.

According to a document given to the press at the time of the meeting into 2002 of its general secretary with Nicolas Sarkozy, Minister of Interior Department: religious arm of Islam Salafiste, the LIM endeavors to make known the Charia and to spread Islamic teaching through the construction of schools and Moslem institutes, with supports and contributions.

Statute

The league has statute of observer (A) category with the UNO and advisory statute near ECOSOC. It is accredited by UNESCO and UNICEF. It has statute of observer to all the conferences of OCI. It is founding member of the International Supreme Council for Dawah and Relief. She is regarded by the European governments as a “ONG governmental”.

Relations with the Saoudi State

The LIM is based in Mecque. The general secretary must be Saoudi. The holder of the station is in 2007 Abdallah Ben Abd Al Muhsin Atturki (Abdallah Turki), former minister for the Religious affairs and prince of blood. Although she always affirmed to be independent of the State, according to a hearing of the legal Commission of the American Sénat, one can deduce without no doubt from the Saoudi sources that the LIM is controlled narrowly by the government, just as IIRO depends on it. In addition, since 1993, a law stipulates that all the Moslem humane funds must be placed under the control of a prince.

Islamic sermon

The Islamic sermon and the explanation of the doctrinal matter doubts are the first two missions quoted in the list of the objectives of the League. James Woolsey, former director of the CIA, estimates that the Saoudis have since the middle of the Seventies spent nearly 90 billion USD to export the ideology Salafite in the world. Since end of the year 90, enormously of Moslems, throughout Europe, Africa or Asia, adopted the dogma Salafite which is in full rise . The kingdom of Saoud particularly holds so that world Islam preserves its “purity not sullied with innovations”.

In addition, the contents Arabic-speaking person of the site of the WML seem to indicate that Europe occupies an increasingly important place in the efforts proselytes of the organization. Before creation in 1978 of the mosque of Geneva, first European establishment officially founded by the LIM, the latter would have financially supported other groups of panislamist spirit, like the Islamic Center of Geneva founded and directed by Saïd Ramadan, Muslim brother. Direct Saoudi engagement would have begun with the reign from the king Khaled. According to the French press, much of money is offered for the construction of mosques or centers of activities with the hope that assisted embrace “their” Islam. According to Michel Fox, converted and former director of the review Islam of France , the world Islamic League “. .est persuaded that, in hundred years, it will have converted most of the French population.”. The League was at the origin of the attempt at legalization of the charia in Canada.

Branches and affiliations

To the world Islamic League are attached the Academy of the Moslem right (Al-Majma `Al-fiqhî Al-islâmî) and IIRO, ONG humanitarian. The LIM and the IIRO belong to the Saudi Joint Relief Committee with Al-Haramain (from now on persona non grata near the international organizations), the Growing red Saoudi and WAMY (world Parliament of the young Moslems).

In each country where the League is present is created an Office of the Organization of world the Islamique league (BOLIM, in Arabic Rabitat), entitled to finance construction projects of mosques and centers Islamic, of which Saoudi Islamic Centers of Rome, Vienna, Madrid, Brussels, London, Sarajevo, Lyon and Geneva.

Presence in the French-speaking zones

Belgium

In 1968, the Belgian government offers the Eastern Pavillon Parc of the Fiftieth anniversary to Brussels with king Fayçal. When Islam is recognized with the number of the religion of State in 1974, it is converted into an Islamic Arts center under the direct control of the world Islamic League. In May 1978, king Khaled goes to Belgium for, inter alia, to promote the importance of the center which obtains this same year by the means of the “school Pact” of the subsidies enabling him to remunerate six hundred religious teachers in the primary education and the secondary. In 1989 an Training institute of Imams is inaugurated, whose director is entitled by the Belgian ministry of State education to appoint the teachers of the courses of Islamic religion and Arabic in the public schools.

Switzerland

In the Seventies, the need is felt for the Saoudis increasingly present on the edges of the Léman to take place of worship which is appropriate to them really. The only notable Moslem institution, financially constant by the LIM, was then the Islamic Center of Geneva of the Egyptian Saïd Ramadan. It in 1978 that was inaugurated the Mosque of Geneva (by king Khaled and the President of the Swiss Confederation) and the Islamic religious Organization of Geneva (by Prince Fahd), both is financed by the LIM.

France

The BOLIM of France, first of all directed by Youssouf/Didier Leclerc, then by the Saoudi Abdulaziz Sarhan, is installed in the buildings contiguous to the Mantes-the-Pretty mosque Ibn Abdelaziz of . Built in 1981 thanks to lybian gifts, it approaches the Saoudis in 1997 officially when Prince Abdelaziz comes to inaugurate the contiguous Islamic arts center. September 30th, 2000, the world Islamic League repurchases the whole for a sum symbolic system and takes its districts there.

The mosque of Evry was built thanks to a collaboration between the LIM (approximately 9 million euros) and the Foundation Hassan II (interior decoration). The LIM paid (2002) the taxes. In 2002 a conflict, always not-solved in 2007, rose between the Foundation Hassan II and the LIM for the control of the mosque.

The large mosque of Lyon, inaugurated in 1994, was financed by a personal gift of king Fahd (~4 million euros) and the world Islamic League

The League is generally regarded as one of the principal backers for the mosques, schools and arts centres. In 2002, its representative in Paris stated to have received in two years more than 30 requests for financing of mosques or Koranic schools emanating of all France. Nevertheless, some consider that she does not exert on these establishments an ideological influence as important as its financial investments would let it suppose, because of resistance of the other participants in the project, as the example of the mosque of Evry shows it.

The league would be close to UOIE and would be the principal patron of UOIF. It is also related to FNMF, Co-founded in 1985 by Youssouf Leclerc, director of the BOLIM of France, which became president about it.

The world Islamic League joins in general the lodged complaints by the Muslim organizations for attack with Islam, as at the time of the lawsuits against Michel Houellebecq (2002) and Charlie Hebdo (Affaire of the caricatures of Mahomet - 2007)
