Mot is the God of the Mort in the Mythologie ougaritaine, and more largely in the ancient Syria. Its name means “death literally”.

In the last part of the account known as of the “Cycle of Baal”, he faces the god-hero of the history, the god of the Storm Baal, with which he disputes sovereignty on the gods. After a difficult combat, Mot ends up being subjected to Baal.

This myth shows Mot like representative the dryness which strikes in a recurring way the areas of the Raising, whereas Baal is him the god who makes rain. When it is retained with the Hells, where Mot resides, the ground is struck besides of dryness, signs victory (temporary) of mot.
