Woolly bombyx

The Eriogaster lanestris is a Lépidoptère pertaining to Lasiocampidae. It is called woolly bombyx in its form woolly Imago (butterfly) or of the cherry tree in its form caterpillar.

  • Distribution: Europe with the area of the river Love.

  • Scale of the male: from 13 to 15 Misters
  • Period of flight: from March to May.
  • Habitat: forests of leafy trees, orchards.
  • Plant-hosts: various species of leafy trees.
