Woolly Célestin

Woolly Célestin (1908 - 1983), nationalist Militant and Terrorist Breton answering in the name of Neven Henaff and being rejoined with the Third Reich and the Ideology Nazi.

Born with Nantes (France) in 1908, it is high with Ploudalmézeau in the Finistere. In 1929, it founds a secret society: Kentoc' H Mervel (Rather death) and between with the Central School. It becomes then Engineer Chimiste French and Officier of reserve of the French Army and engages in the fight for creation of a Breton state .

Breton activism

End 1930, it creates with Guillaume Berthou the terrorist organization Gwenn-ha-Of the , which preaches the direct action, and which acts in relation to the Nazi Germany and the WILL GO. Besides Célestin Lainé publishes in the Stur review an article summarizing its creed under the title “Our two bases, Ireland and Prussia”. The bunch perpetuates many bomb attacks, of which that which destroys the monument of the Union of Brittany in France, on the place of the town hall of Rennes.

It creates in 1936 the Kadervenn (Furrow of Combat or Special service), a paramilitary unit conceived on the model of the WILL GO, including/understanding a dozen approximately committed members in military operations. This organization informs the new recruits and takes part in operations in the Monts of Arrée in 1937 then in the moors of Lanvaux in 1938. At the summer 1940, Lainé transforms its Kadervenn into “ Lu Brezhon ”.

It passes in lawsuit the June 29th 1938 in the enclosure of the magistrates' court of Rennes. It is the first time that the Justice of the IIIe republic brings a lawsuit with Breton separatists. He refuses on this occasion to answer in French his judges, and made read by his lawyers a declaration under the terms of which he asserts the honor to have washed the insult of Marx Dormoy and claims the hardest sorrow in order to be able to prophesy the close advent of a Breton republic. He is suspected, without never being able to prove it to be the chief of the secret society Gwenn ha Of the. He was condemned in June 1938 to a few months of prison at the conclusion of a lawsuit brought with the authors of a campaign of graffiti anti-French.

Second world war

Adhesion with the ideology Nazi

Before and during the Second world war, Célestin Lainé adheres to the ideology Nazi and takes the party of the Reich. It is a partisan of the strong method which has an obsession: to create a Breton army (" we will continue the tradition of those which, during the centuries, fought, the weapons with the hand, to affirm our rights of nation" ). Having some weapons and explosives which its lieutenants had recovered, it started to weave, at the beginning of 1941 the fabric of the organization of future the Armée with Release of Brittany .

In 1939, it makes a stay in Germany where it obtains the delivery of weapons. Transhipped on board the Gwalarn , this one is failed Locquirec in the night from August 8th to 9th 1939, the weapons are recovered and stored in Perros-Guirec in a villa street of the Good children. (see: Unloading of weapons of Plestin)

At the end of October 1939, Célestin Lainé is stopped on the face of the North of France. He is condemned to four years of detention to have written in a letter that armed French went to its loss, and is transferred directly from the face to the Power station of Clairvaux.

He escapes at the end of June 1940 and takes part in the establishment of the Breton National committee with Pontivy at the beginning of July 1940. He seizes on this occasion the Château Rohan to make the general headquarter of Lu Brezhon of it, but is driven out by it the July 24th 1940 by the population of Pontivy. It joined then the Manoir of Ker Riou in Gouezec, close to Pleyben where the actions and the presence of the organization caused the open hostility of the population of the borough. Recalled highly to the order by the Breton National Left, Lainé refuses to be subjected to them and sees itself some excluded.

Collaboration

It takes part in creation, with Yann Goulet, of the Bagadou Stourm (troops of combat) where it ensures the instruction of the volunteers while setting up a unit that it controls more personally (the Special service , paramilitary unit also in charge of the service of order within GNP)).

In 1942 takes place a scission between Bagadou Stourm and the " Spécial" service; also called Lu Brezhon (Armed Breton). In November 1943, hostile with the timer policy of the P.N.B., Célestin Lainé constitutes the “ Bezen Kadoudal'”, a legion of separatist volunteers in German uniforms, ready to fight not only the French, but also the enemies of the Reich. However, this army is not recognized by the P.N.B and Raymond Delaporte declares that “this Breton army could not have any legal reality since it was not made up that volunteers without national uniform and directly engaged in the German forces”. Teased thus re-elects the bunch in “ Bezen Perrot ” (Perrot militia), in reference to the Abbé Perrot, cleaned burning defender of the Breton language assassinated by resistant near to PCF.

The Bezen Perrot is a Breton militia of Collaboration with the Nazism. It is called also the militia Perrot , Perrot Gruppe , DER bretonische Waffenverband DER S or Die bretonische S . The group will recruit 66 people of the end 1943 until July 1944, all vêtus of a green German uniform of gray with the cap with death's-head, and enlisted in the Sicherheitsdienst.

The Perrot Militia has the role of keeping the building of the Gestapo to Rennes and its prisoners, but also of fighting against the maquis of Brittany, in particular by tackling the groupings of the FFI and ftp and by torturing the prisoners.

It founds in May 1944 symbolically, new a Breton national Parti in the nationalist line most radical. But, to the Release, these collaborationnists activities will contribute to throw the opprobrium on the whole of the Breton movement.

In June 1944, with the approach of the final fall of the hitlerism, the desertions multiply, some join the ftp, others the FFI, even thread civil clothing discreetly, but the principal members flee in Germany (where some will be even made naturalize German), without forgetting to carry out summary executions of resistant imprisoned on the road of their escape. Teased lived clandestinely in Germany before joining Ireland.

Judgment with death in absentia

The case Bezen Perrot and other cases of collaboration was treated by the Court of justice established with Rennes in 1944. Its capacities were transferred to the Permanent Tribunal from the Armed forces to Paris the 1951 which was charged to re-examine all the cases. Among a dozen Breton exiled in Germany of 1946 with 1948, 5 were condemned to died by Contumace.

Exile

Driven out of Brittany by the defeat of the Nazis, the ultimate combatants of this unit find themselves with Tübingen, gathered around him. Condemned to death in absentia, sought a long time, he lives in Ireland (appreciated for its qualities of chemist) until his death. In respect of its last and ultimate wills, its ashes were widespread in 1988, by veterans of the Bezen Perrot, on the Field of Bataille of Saint-Aubin-of-Cormier the where the July 28th 1488, 6.000 Breton soldiers of the Breton Army and their allies English, Gascon, German, French, Spanish who lost their lives for the defense of the independence of the Duché of Brittany and the freedom of the Breton people vis-a-vis the French Army of invasion of the king Charles VIII.

Olier Mordrel, cofounder of the Left Breton separatist, will write of him that he “was a strange man. He had become the prophet of a Celtic religion made with his measurement, where nordisant racism married with the will for power nietzschéenne, not without flirter with inevitable exhalations of romantic druidism”. (Olier Mordrel, in Breiz Atao).
