Wookieepedia

Wookieepedia is a not-official Wiki on the Star Wars declined in several languages (French, English, Spanish, Polish, Portuguese, Russian). The version German E is a similar but independent project.

It contains information on the Film S and the wide universe. The very similar pronunciation between Wookiee and Wiki is obviously the reason of such a name.

Lodged by Wikia, Wookieepedia was launched the March 4th 2005. The first writers of this site were most of the time users of Wikipedia frustrated by the criteria of notoriety necessary to the creation of an article and the discussions without end as for their suppression. The first articles were copied directly of Wikipedia under the free License of documentation GNU.

Each article on the Star Wars has its place on Wookieepedia and those considered as too minor being included in Wikipedia are often transferred to Wookieepedia, if the article already does not exist.

With the July 6th 2006, the English base contained 34 500 articles and the base French, lately created, 102.

The November 28th 2005, Wookieepedia was selected like “Internet site Sci-fi of the week” by the American chain Sci Fi Chanel . In January 2006, this wiki was “Wiki of the month” according to Wikia.
