Woodes Rogers (1679? with Bristol-board, England - July 16th 1732 with Nassau, the Bahamas) was a British Corsaire. He became the first royal governor of the the Bahamas. He played an important role in the eradication of the Piraterie in the the Caribbean thanks to the combined use of royal forgiveness and military forces.
Rogers was officially named Capitaine, Général and Governor as a Chief on the grounds and around the Islands of the Bahamas by King George Ier the February 6th 1718.
