History of the species
Specimens of this species already had been collected in the years 1960 but had been brought back to the woodcock of Eurasia (
Scolopax rusticola )
This bird was observed and identified like new species by ornithologists for the first time at the time of an ornithological visit in 1993, on the Kitanglad mount, in the province of Bukidnon with Mindanao.
