Wood-of-Céné

Wood-with-Céné is a common French, located in the department of the the Vendée and the area Pays of the Loire. The common one belonged to an area that one calls Marches of Brittany and Poitou.

Geography

The commune is composed of different environment, the Marais with the Breton Marais in the west of the commune and the east of the commune a campaign of the woodlands. It is in extreme cases between the departments of the Loire-Atlantique and the the Vendée.

The commune is surrounded of the communes of Bouin, Bourgneuf-in-Retz, Fresnay-in-Retz, Machecoul, Paulx, Garnache, Châteauneuf, and Saint-Gervais.

History

Wood-of-Céné at the edge of the ocean was 1000 years ago, of the monks established there the abbey of Isle-Chauvet in the Baie of Brittany which gradually was not any more one island.

In the surrounding of the years a 1120 negotiation has place, negotiation carried out between Bernard de Machecoul and Pierre of Garnache on the statute of this small parish located to the border between Brittany and Poitou. Its report known under the name of " Sat of Wood-of-Céné" poses the bases of what will become the statute of the common steps between Brittany and Poitou: joint possession, prevention, privileges and neutrality…

In the old mode the parish of Wood-of-Céné enjoyed the statute of common walk, located in the Marches of Brittany-Poitou (Low-Walks more exactly), it depended on the évêché of Luçon of the Poitou but its cure depended on the Intendance of Brittany.
