Wolfred Nelson , (July 10th, 1791 - June 17th, 1863) doctor, born with Montreal and important character of the History of Quebec. He is the older brother of Robert Nelson.
He studied the Médecine at the school of his father with William Henry (today Sorel-Tracy, Quebec). He became doctor in January 1811, and was useful subsequently in this function with the British troops during the Guerre of 1812.
He moved with Saint-Denis-on-Richelieu where he opened a Distillerie. He entered in policy when elected to William Henry in 1827. He supported the patriotic Parti.
In 1827, it was elected appointed, but forsook the policy activates in 1830, without to have désaouvé its allegiance reformist. He became a patriotic chief in the area of the Valley Richelieu, and supported the armed struggle with the Assemblée of the Six-Counties in 1837. He led the patriots of St-Denis to the victory, and was stopped shortly after. (See Rebellion of the Patriots)
Exiled to Bermuda in 1838, it returned to Montreal in 1842, and in 1844 was elected with new the Parliament of Canada. In 1854, he became mayor of Montreal, and he died in June 1863.
