Wolfgang Schäuble

Wolfgang Schäuble , born the September 18th 1942 with Freiburg-in-Brisgau, is a lawyer and German politician , member of the Union Christian Democrat (CDU).

Federal minister with special attributions and chief of the federal Chancellery (1984 - 1989) of Helmut Kohl, then federal minister for the Interior (1989 - 1991), it is victim of an attack made by one unbalanced in its district of Offenburg the October 12th 1990 and moves since in wheel chair. Profiting from all the confidence of Helmut Kohl, he becomes president of the Groupe CDU/CSU to the '' Bundestag '' in 1991, and chair federal of CDU in November 1998.

Blamed in the scandal of the black cases of CDU, he resigns of these two mandates in 2000. The general secretary, Angela Merkel, succeed to him the head of the party. Important man in device CDU/CSU, it becomes again federal minister for the Interior in 2005.
