The rose tree of the Alps ( Rosa pendulina L.), also called “wild rose with hanging fruits”, “wild rose of the Alps” or “rose tree without spines”, is a Arbrisseau kind Rosa classified in the section of the '' Cinnamomeae '', of the family of the Rosacée S, originating in Europe central and southernmost.

Description

This rose tree is recognized normally with its absence of spines and its hanging fruits.
  • Form: stem of 50 cm to 2 m in height.
  • Sheets: composed of many oval leaflets (7 to 11) on toothed board.
  • Flowers: large, solitary on more or less hairy stalks which bend at the end of flowering. The flowers have 5 petals of color varying of the carmine red to the pink crimson.
  • Flowering: from June to August.
  • Habitat: wood lights, moors and pastures rocky.
  • Altitude: between 500 and 2600 Mr.

Cultivated varieties

  • Rosa pendulina “Pyrenaica”, with the flowers pink dark, the very red fruits, which suckers much; it is used for the Rocaille S,
  • Rosa pendulina “Inernis”,
  • Rosa pendulina , with double flowers,
  • Rosa pendulina VAr. oxyodon or Rosa oxyodon Wood., found with the the Caucasus and introduced in Europe in 1904,

  • Rosa X spinulifolia Dematra ( Rosa pendulina X Rosa tomentosa ).
