Wolfgang Laib (born on March 25th, 1950 in Metzingen) is a German artist .

Laib is resulting from a family of doctors of Biberach. He also studied, in the years 1970, medicine with Tübingen. Very early, it was interested in Article Under the influence of its mentor of Biberach, the painter of landscape Jakob Bräckle, it was also interested in the culture and philosophy of the Far East.

Laib often does work of Land Art, in its work one can also see influences of the Minimal art. Work with natural materials, as the beeswax, pollen and rice, is a characteristic of Laib. It was especially known thanks to Milchsteine (known as milk stones): large blocks of marble dug deeply and filled with milk.

A first retrospective of its work, of 2000 until 2002, traversed the United States and was, inter alia, with the Hirshhorn Museum with Washington. This retrospective was later visible with the Haus der Kunst of Munich.

It obtains the price Arnold-Bode-Preis () with the Documenta Kassel of 1987.
