Wolf of Troyes
Holy Wolf bishop of Troyes or holy Leu died into 478 or 479. Festival the July 29th (d.n. : dies natalis, day of its rest).
Born with Toul towards 383, it enters to the service of the governor Germain of Auxerre (the future bishop) then Marie with Piméniole, the sister of saint Hilaire of Arles. After seven years of marriage, the husbands choose together to become monk and moniale.
Wolf is monk with Lérins then becomes bishop of Troyes into 426. It joins together a council in its city and it is chosen by its pars, with Germain of Auxerre, to go précher to Great Britain against the heresy pélagienne which had been propagated there quickly.
The two bishops, according to the tradition, pass by Nanterre and meet there the young person Sainte Genevieve to which Germain gives a coin symbolic system before devoting it to God. In 451, Genevieve in Paris and Loup with Troyes protect heroically their city against Attila and her army.
Wolf sends to Attila some members of his clergy in embassy of which Mémorius and Camélien: it is a failure, Attila makes them massacre, except only one, Camélien, which survives its wounds and which will become the successor of Loup saint as bishop of Troyes. The bishop then decides to go him even towards Attila and it succeeds in convincing it to save the city and to withdraw themselves. But out of Champagne the country is devastated after the passage of the Huns and it is depopulated. Wolf must withdraw itself: it spends two years recluse to the Mont Lansuine (to 15 km of Troyes) and two others to Mâcon where one credits it with several miracles.
It takes again finally possession of its episcopal see and dies in Troyes into 478 or 479. In 570, the kings Gontran and Chilpéric come on its tomb to swear a reciprocal peace. The remainders of Loup saint were profaned and dispersed in the night of the 9 with the January 10th 1794, except a cranium portion which the cathedral of Troyes preserves. He is called upon against the possession of the demon, the paralysis and the epilepsy.
