Woippy ( German Wappingen in ) is a common French located in the department of the the Moselle in Lorraine. Its inhabitants is called Woippyciens.

Geography

The commune of Woippy prolongs the Metz-native agglomeration towards the North-West, beyond left bank of the the Moselle and the highway A31. It accommodates a marshalling yard.

History

The foundation of Woippy probably goes up at the time Gallo-Roman, around an agricultural domain near the Roman way leading to Trier. The first written mention of Woippy appears in a brief of the pope Calixte II of April 9th 1123, spelled Guapeio.

• Louisa Benzaid : born with Forbach in 1972, it resides at Woippy since 1999.
