With the theater this evening

With the theater this evening was a television program of Pierre Sabbagh diffused in alternation between the first and the second channel of ORTF then on TF1 and Antenne 2 of 1966 with 1988. It retransmettait Plays. Never on line, they were always recorded on two or three days, during public representations since the Théâtre Marigny with Paris.

History

The emission was born following a strike which had been prolonged with the ORTF. The directors of programs, course of emission, requested from RTBF the recording of a play, the good cushy job of Michel André, which had in particular as a high-speed motorboat Bourvil. This first play is the only one to be recorded with the Théâtre of the Light comedy to Brussels instead of the Marigny Theater in Paris.

The diffusion of this part had an enormous success, and whole postal bags, filled with letters of televiewer, arrived on television. In front of the passion of the public for the theater on television, Pierre Sabbagh created the emission With the theater this evening which, started on August 28th 1966, with Three boys a girl will finish in December 1984, will diffuse 416 parts of which several arrived at the posterity and became great classics.

This emission will have allowed actors of theater like Jacques François, then unknown of the general public, to be regularly in Tête of poster on television.

Anecdotes

Not being satisfied to greet the public at the end of the representation, the retransmissions were completed by the presentation of the troop and by the famous one: “the decorations are of Roger Harth and the costumes of Donald Cardwell”. The last years, it is the public of the Théâtre Marigny itself which stressed the name of the person in charge of the decorations and that of the costumes, which inspired certain humorists.
