TS Wisła Cracow is a club Polish of Football based with Cracow. It draws its name from the the Vistula ( Wisła in Polish), river which crosses Cracow. It is chaired by Marek Wilczek, and is pulled by Maciej Skorża.
History
The history of the Wisla Cracow probably began in October 1906, when the Dr. Tadeusz Konczyński organized the Krakow Błonia , first tournament of football in the city. It also founded four other teams (university), from which the equipment came exclusively from England. The team was vêtu of blue (clearly), and wore black shorts. It is besides for that its first nickname was at the time " Bleus" . The very first captain of the club named Józef Szkolnikowski (goalkeeper), and gave for the first time to the club the name of Wisla . The club was then chaired by Tadeusz Łopuszański, also very first president of Wisla Cracow.
In September 1907, " Rouges" (the team of Jenkner) amalgamates with Wisla, then shortly after with " Roses" . The club takes then the name of Towarzystwo Sportowe Wisla , and exists officialement. The blue shirts are changed into red, but the black shorts remain identical. When the first uniforms arrive of Berlin, two stars light blue appear on the tunic. But with time, seuelement only one will remain, and its color will transfer with the white. It is thus for that the final nickname of Wisla appears: Biała Gwiazda (White Star).
In this period, Wisla knows tops and the bottoms, marked by success in national championship and the qualifications for the European competitions, then the reléguations in the second division (by 3 times).
On the European scene, Wisla appeared in the three different tournaments. But its greater success will remain that of the season 1978/79, when the club reached the quarterfinals of the Ligue of the Champions, by beating the large ones like the Lazio of Rome or FC Bruges. The Reds and white will be done finally eliminated by the Malmö FF (3-5), after a victory 2-1 with the match outward journey. More recently, Wisla puts an end to its European hopes, while being made litigieusement leave (at the time of additional time) the Ligue of the Champions 2005-2006, at the time of the 3rd preliminary round and by the Panathinaïkos (4-5, with one 3-1 with the match outward journey).
Wisla also reached by twice reached the eighth of finale of the Coupe of the winners of cut in 1967/68 and 1984/85, by inclining 5-0 and 3-2 face respectively with the Hamburg SV and the Fortuna Sittard. The White Star took part on the whole ten times in the UEFA Cup.
After two seasons successful in 2005 and 2006, Wisla is classified has poor a 8th place the following season, depriving it of any European competition.
This season
At the time of the season 2007-08, Wisla gains the first Trophée of Chicago, disputed in Illinois in July. The Polish club has to draw aside FC Seville, very right winner for the second time of sharpened UEFA Cup 1-0. Wisla will defend its title the following year. It is important to specify that this tournament revêt an importance particulère for Wisla and the Polish community , since Chicago asserts the largest Polish population installed out of the country.
In championship, Wisla connects the victories, propelling it in comfortable a 1st place at the semi-season. The club is declared champion of autumn several weeks in advance. Cracow counts 10 points in advance on its dolphin, the Legia Warsaw, and still did not concede the least not demolished.
