Desiré Wilson (born the November 26th 1953 with Brakpan, South Africa) is old a racing driver South-African.
Biography
Desiré Wilson belongs to the rare women to have taken part (in the broad sense) in a test of the championship of the world of Formule 1. In 1980, it indeed tried to be qualified, without success, for the Grand Prix of Great Britain, with Brands Hatch, the wheel of a Williams private FW07 of the stable Brands Hatch Racing. A few months later, it will take the departure of GP of South Africa 1981 on a Tyrrell, but this test, illegitimate with the eyes of FISA, did not count for the championship of the world.Desiré Wilson also took part in the championship Aurora F1 (British championship opposing of F1 of the previous years) and in particular gained the test of Brands Hatch in 1980. For this reason, she is regarded as the only woman of the history to have gained a race of Formula 1.
She took part in races of endurance and in particular gained the 1000 km of Monza 1980 and the 6 hours of Silvertone 1980, tests belonging to the Championnat of the world of the sport scars 1980.
She took part also in 3 tests of the 24 hours of Mans.
