Desired Clary (Marseilles, November 8th 1777 - Stockholm, December 17th 1860), queen of Sweden and Norway, wife of the king Charles XIV Jean.

Biography

Girl of the commercial rich person manufacturing and Silk François Clary and of his wife Francoise Somis, Désirée Clary is born Bernardine Eugenie Désirée Clary the November 9th 1777 with Marseilles. She is initially courted by Joseph Bonaparte in 1794, but this one ends up marrying the sister of Desired, Julie Clary. Wished becomes engaged officially to the brother of Joseph, Napoleon Bonaparte, the April 21st 1795. But the meeting by Napoleon of Joséphine de Beauharnais with Paris, the October 15th 1795, by the means of his/her friend Paul Barred, the fact of giving up this project of marriage, not without bad conscience as its correspondence with Désirée testifies some.

She marries the August 17th 1798 with Sceaux the Général Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte. They had both sons, Oscar, born the July 4th 1799. When her husband becomes the heir to the throne of Sweden and Norway the August 21st 1810, Désirée settles with Stockholm with his/her son. Jean-Baptiste and Désirée are crowned king and queen of Sweden and Norway with died of the king Charles XIII the February 5th 1818. He becomes the king Carl XIV Johan, and it queen Desideria . With died of her husband the March 8th 1844, it is his/her son who reaches the throne under the name of Oscar Ier. Wished dies the December 17th 1860 with Stockholm.
