Wisław II of Rügen
Wislaw II of Rügen (in Polish Wisław II , in German Wizlaw II ) was born towards 1240 and deceased the December 29th 1302. It is prince of Rügen of 1260 with 1302.
Biography
Wisław is the son of Jaromar II of Rügen and Euphémie of Poméranie, the girl of Świętopełk II of Poméranie.
In 1260, it succeeds his/her father Jaromar II of Rügen, deceased after being stabbed. At the beginning, it controls with his brother Jaromar III (° before 1249, † before 1285).
With the end of the year 1269, with the agreement of Barnim I {{er}} of Poméranie Western, Wisław II seizes the areas of Darłowo and Sławno. These grounds are the Dot of his/her mother, the girl of Swietopelk II of Poméranie. In 1271, to Darłowo, Wisław offers a ground to the Cistercien S. the January 18th 1277, it sells the area of Sławno, with Darłowo, with the Margrave S of the Brandebourg.
The June 13rd 1283, on the initiative of Wisław II of Rügen, Jean of Saxony-Lauenburg and Bogusław IV of Poméranie, an alliance is signed between the towns of Lübeck, Wismar, Rostock, Stralsund, Greifswald, Szczecin, Demmin and Anklam (Alliance of Rostock). This alliance is clearly directed against the Brandebourg. The same year, the king Rodolphe I {{er}} proposes in Wisław that the continental part of the principality of Rügen becomes a German Fief .
Wisław follows an active policy of economic development of its principality. Thus, in 1285, Wisław grants the urban Privilège S to Tribsees. It gives more grounds to the Abbaye S and the Monastère S.
An agreement signed the March 12th 1289 (or 1292) between Wisław and the Margrave S of Brandebourg testifies to a project to seize and to divide the Eastern Poméranie after the death of Mestwin II which did not have wire. This project fails because Mestwin had concluded an agreement with the Poland, in virtue of which Przemysl II will succeed to him in Poméranie de Gdańsk after its death.
Wisław II dies in 1302, whereas it returns visit to his daughter Euphémie in Norway. It is buried in the church mariale Oslo.

Wisław II married with Agnès of Brunswick - Lunebourg (between 1263 and 1269). The names of eight children appear on the will of Wisław dated from the December 27th 1302:
