Wiredrawing
The wiredrawing is the reduction of the Section of a wire out of metal by mechanical traction on a machine to be drawn.
The work hardening there is important and requires a thermal Traitement called Patentage (standard of Recuit for the weak sections) avoiding with the wire being too breakable and improving its plasticity.
The wire rod, in the form of reel, is posed on a reel. It is rolled up on capstans, which, by friction, exert a traction on the wire. The wire passes in a die, upstream of the capstan, which imposes on the wire a deformation by reduction of section. The die is abundantly lubricated, to ensure the maintenance of a good state of surface of the wire and to ensure cooling and to counter the heating caused by the work hardening of metal.
