the wire of the American Revolution ( Sounds off the American Revolution ) is an American association with not-lucrative goal.
It was created with San Francisco in 1876 by descendants of soldiers having fought during the Guerre of American independence who met to celebrate the centenary of the Déclaration of American independence. Its development involved its reorganization on April 30th l889 date on which it took its current name. It accepted a charter by an act of the Congrès of the United States on June 9th, 1906.
Its seat is with Louisville (Kentucky). It includes/understands 51 branches.
Its goals are to maintain and propagate:
Any major man of American nationality of good reputation can be member which can prove to have an ancestor actively having taken part or supported the Revolution. The descendants of the French or Spanish soldiers can be also member having taken part in the War of Independence.
The French branch was created in on October 19th, 1926. It aims at developing the friendship between the two countries
The July 4th, day of the national Festival American it organizes a ceremony on the tomb of Fayette with the Cimetière of Picpus. The ambassador of the the United States in France east member of honor.
The women can join the association of the “ Filles of the revolution ”.
This association should not be confused with the “ Société of Cincinatti ” ( Society off the Cincinnati ) created the May 13rd 1783 by George Washington and whose name refers to the Roman consul Cincinnatus.
Only the elder heirs to the officers can be members who fought during the war of independence.
The organization of Cincinnati comprised, as of its creation, thirteen companies, one by country of origin and Washington wished that France is associated there (general officers, captains, generals and colonels of the French army expeditionary).
The French branch has its seat with the Jockey Club, 2 rue Rabelais 75008 Paris. The number of members is extremely restricted of about 250 people resulting from the Noblesse.
