Wire of darkness (original Title: Children off the night ) is a Romance of daN Simmons published with the the United States in 1992.
The biologist Kate Neuman goes on mission humane in Romania shortly after the fall of the mode of Caucescu. In the orphanages, she discovers a catastrophic sanitary situation: underfed children, which gallops epidemic of AIDS caused by a deplorable Disease prevention etc.
In one of these orphanages she discovers a child, fore-mentioned Joshua, which suffers from the four forms of a so rare disease that the most widespread form is present at ten patients only in the world. After adopthaving adopted it, it turns over to the the United States and undertakes research on this child. She discovers whereas a blood transfusion seems to improve, at least temporarily, her state. Thus a blue disappears it in a few hours after a transfusion.
Further pushing research with its team, she discovers in the child a strange body which could be well at the origin of the legend of the Vampire S.
the Wire of darkness is the second part of what daN Simmons called the triptych Elm Heaven . One finds there Mike O' Rourke as a disillusioned and ravaged priest by the Vietnam, Harlen as a senator with the long arm, and which knows, the remainder of the band perhaps… even distressing springs and mixes of historical investigation, of changes of narrator.
