Winter sports resort
A winter sports resort is a space arranged for the practice of the Sport S of winter.
In the countries with Climate moderated, like the France, the winter sports resorts are located in mountain. Only the stations of high mountain, starting from 1800 m of altitude, have the certainty to have a sufficient snowing up every year. There exists however of many stations of medium mountains, starting from 900 m of altitude, whose snowing up is more random. For a few years, snow-blowers have made it possible artificially to make up the deficit of snow to the bottom of the tracks.
In more cold countries, like the Canada or the Finland, of the stations can be arranged on hills of very low altitude, which are nevertheless snow-covered every winter.
A Station of winter sports is composed:
- of a skiable field, together of tracks of Ski alpine or Scandinavian and of ski lift
- of the station itself, offering lodging, restoration and trade
In France, the major part of the winter sports resorts is concentrated in the the Alps of North, in the departments of the Savoy, the Haute-Savoie and the Isere. One however finds stations in the the Alps of the South, the the Pyrenees, the Massif Central, the the Jura, the the Vosges and the Corsica .
Some criticize the concreting , starting from the Années 1960, of the landscapes of altitude hitherto preserved, with the profit of often expensive leisures, practiced a few months of the year only. The construction of large buildings in full heart of the mountains, the bleedings in the forests to make pass Cable car S and other ski lifts, indeed modified, sometimes with serious consequences on the ecology and the human settlements (increased risks of avalanches), the valleys of altitude.
