Winter Olympics of 2010
The XXI E Winter Olympics will be held 12 with the February 28th 2010 with Vancouver, with the Canada.
Organization
- Eight applicant cities had required to accommodate the Plays: Andorra-the-Old woman, Swiss Bern in , Harbin in China, Jaca in Spain, PyeongChang in Korea, Salzburg in Austria, Sarajevo in Bosnia-Herzégovine and Vancouver with the Canada.

It remained nothing any more but PyeongChang, Salzburg, Bern and Vancouver with designation by CIO of the cities candidates on August 28th, 2002, after examination of the files of the applicant cities. Bern withdrew its candidature for the autumn 2002 after a referendum of opposition to the OJ.

has Prague, on July 2nd, 2003, Vancouver is indicated to organize XXIe Winter Olympics in 2010.
Striking facts
as for the Plays of Turin in 2006, there will be two sites of distant principal competition of more than 100km (or more than 2 hours of road), two Olympic villages, two places of the medals : in Vancouver on the one hand and Whistler in the chain of the Coastal Mountains on the other hand. There will be very few connections between two Olympic populations, that of the winter sports, Figure skating and of speed, Short track, hockey, Curling… whose competitions will proceed in the harbor capital of the British Columbia and that of the sports of snow (Alpine skiing, Biathlon, Ski touring, Ski jump, Scandinavian Combiné…) who will not have with " descendre" downtown, including receiving the medals. Characteristic for the Alpine skiing, on the slopes of Creekside in Whistler, the surface of arrival will be the same one for the totality of the races, men and ladies.
In addition, made new, the fence and opening ceremonies (on February 12th, 2010) (on February 28th) will not proceed in a stage in the open air, but in a covered arena, the " BC Place Center" with the downtown area, of a capacity of 55.000 places. During the two weeks of competition, the " BC Place" will be the theater of the handing-over of medals of the winter sports, ski freestyle and Snowboard whose competitions will proceed on the mountain nearest to Vancouver, the Cypress Mountain . This decision of the COVAN, organizing committee, was made by taking account of the risks weather (important pluviometry in winter)…
Sports and disciplines
A new discipline arranged in the family of the Hot-dogging ( ski freestyle ) which included/understood up to now the competitions of bumps ( moguls ) and of jump ( aerial ), makes its entry with the Plays of winter. It is about the Skicross . The same type of test, in fact, as the Olympic Snowboardcross since the Plays of Turin: a broken course, fact of jumps and corners banked, four competitors which spring face, qualification of the two first in bottom for the following turn, in the form of eliminatory table until the final. The difference between Snowboardcross and Skicross will hold above all in the speed and the length of the jumps which are higher on two boards….- Biathlon paralympic
