Winston Field

Winston Joseph Field (1904 - 1969) is a politician of Southern Rhodesia, founder of the Front Rhodésien (Rhodesian Front - RF) at the side of Ian Smith.

Field was born and grew in Bromsgrove with the the United Kingdom.

It is in 1921 that he emigrates in the colony Britannique of Southern Rhodesia.

Farmer, it cultivates the Tabac in the area of Marandellas in the area is Mashonaland.

Of 1938 with 1940, it chairs the trade union of the growers of tobacco.

In 1940, it joined the army to take part in the Second world war.

It begins its political career at the Parliament as a deputy of the Party of the Dominion.

In 1961, it is one of the founders of the Rhodésien Face.

In December 1962, Winston Field is elected Prime Minister of Southern Rhodesia.

In April 1964, too considered timoré and incompetent to negotiate independence with the British metropolis , it is replaced at the post of Prime Minister by Ian Smith.
