Winsted (Connecticut)

Winsted is a city located in the Comté of Litchfield, in the State of the Connecticut (the United States). According to the census of 2000, Winsted had a total population of 7.321 inhabitants.

Geography

According to the Office of the census of the United States, surface of the east city of 12,5 km ², including 12,1 km ² of grounds and 0,4 km ² of water levels (either 3,31%).

Demography

According to the Census of 2000, there were 7.321 inhabitants, 3.072 households, and 1.889 families in the city. The Population density was of 604,0 hab/km ². There were 3.370 houses with a density of 278,0 maisons/km ². The ethnic decomposition of the population was the following one: 93,28% of white; 1,53% of black; 0,23% of Amerindian; Asian 1,12% of S; 0,01% of natives of the islands of the Peaceful ; 2,20% of the other races; 1,63% of two or several races. 4,02% of the population were Hispanique or Latino of any race.

There were 3.072 households, of which 27,6% had children of less than 18 years, 44,9% were married couples , 12,0% had a woman who was isolated relative and 38,5% were not-family households. 31,3% of the households were made up people alone and 14,0% 65 years people alone or more. The average household comprised 2,36 people and the average family had 2,98 people.
