The Wineckerthal is a variation of the commune of Dambach, in the Département of the Low-Rhine.

Etymology

The hamlet is famous with many recoveries. One thus knows it in the form Zickerthal in 1610, Zipfelthal in 1730, Windeckerthal and finally Wineckerthal , his current form, towards 1800.

The origin of the name could come from the Zicker family and mean " The valley of Zicker " or, Zicker meaning goat , the valley of the goat.

History

With the Herrenhof , the current forest house, a Protestant school sees the day in 1855. The small school starts with children resulting from Dambach, Neunhoffen, Wineckerthal and of Langensoultzbach. The long ways with foot which the children daily with foot were to carry out very quickly became a disadvantage. In 1865, the classroom becomes too exiguous for the frequentation of the pupils.

At the bottom of the valley, on the right of the Herrenhof , the Hinterthal , a hamlet from 3 to 4 dwellings was, completely destroyed at the beginning of the 19th century.

Wineckerthal is located on the site of an old medieval road.
