Wine of guard

A wine of guard is a Vin which can age several years in Cave while improving.

The wines of guard cannot be drunk too young people and must undergo one period of Maturation of about three to five years.

One can distinguish several categories of wines from guard:

  • of average keeps, for a wine which can be preserved from 5 to 10 years,
  • of long guard, between 10 and 20 years,
  • of very long guard, beyond 20 years.

For example: the great wines of Bordeaux are wines of guard.
