Windsor (Ontario)
Windsor is the city more in the south of the province of the Ontario and the Canada. It is located in the county of Essex, on the other side of the river Détroit and Lac Holy-Claire of the town of Détroit, in the State of Michigan. Population of the east city of 216.473 inhabitants. With the suburbs, its population is of 323.342 inhabitants.
Firstly established by French, the community always has a small French-speaking population. The sior of Cadillac establishes there the Fort Pontchartrain of the Strait (the current city of Strait) at the other side of the river in 1701. In 1748, the side of Windsor was populated. It is more the old city uninhabited continuously in Canada in the west of Montreal. The sector was called the first time Petite Coast , and later, the Côte of Misery because of the arenaceous grounds close to LaSalle. The French heritage of Windsor is reflected in many streets with French names, such as Ouellette, Pelissier, Marentette and Lauzon. The current system of the streets of Windsor, a grid with the oval blocks, reflects the French method seigneuriale of agricultural division of area in which the farms were long and narrow, facing along the river.
The bridge Ambassador, between Windsor and Détroit, is the most occupied point of the canado-American border. It there also of the tunnel of Strait-Windsor which binds the two cities.
