Windows one the world is a Romance written by Frederic Beigbeder and published with the editions Grasset in August 2003 (ISBN 2-246-633-818) . It received the price Interallié the same year, and its translation in English by Frank Wynne obtained in 2005 the Independent Foreign Fiction Prize (price of the foreign fictions of the Independent ), at the same time in the categories “author” and “translator”.

Its action proceeds at the time of the attacks September 11th 2001 on the World Trade Center, with New York, and reports in particular the last moments of the customers of the Windows one the world, the Restaurant éponyme which was at the top of the northern tower.

Its author presents it as follows: “The only means of knowing what occurred in the restaurant located at the 107e stage from the Northern Tower from the World Trade Center, on September 11th, 2001, between 8:30 and 10:29, it is to invent it. ”
