Windows-1252 or CP1252 is a Character set available on the Operating system Microsoft Windows, in the United States, and in certain countries of the European Union.
Windows-1252 is an extension of ISO/CEI 8859-1: it differs from the ISO-8859-1 by the use of printable natures, rather than of the control characters, in the beach 80-9F. Windows calls this in a generic way ANSI , but according to the place where the Operating system was sold, the whole of characters can have another name, such as for example CP1252 with the the United States or, in the countries of the Western Europe, the name validated by IANA, Windows-1252.
This difference can present compatibility issues, when the format of coding of the text is not known, in particular the sign € (euro) is not coded same manner between Iso-8859-15 and Windows-1252. For this perhaps preferable reason it, when it is possible to use Utf-8.
NB: certain characters of the beach 80-9F can pose problem, for more detail to see Codage the valid page of illegal the Windows characters in HTML and XHTML.
The following table shows Windows-1252. 81,8D, 8F, 90, and 9D are not used. The changes compared to ISO-8859-1 are surlignés.
