Windmill (AOC)
The Windmill is one of the ten vintages of the vineyard of the Beaujolais which are, of north in the south: Saint-Love, Juliénas, Chénas, Mill-with-Wind, Flowered, Chiroubles, Morgon, Régnié, Brouilly and Coast of Brouilly.
This vineyard is only vintages of the Beaujolais wine not to be at the same time the name of a commune. The vineyard is overhung by an old man Windmill. It gathers the best slopes of the communes of Romanèche-Thorins and Chénas.
The windmill is a Vin of intense color, with the dress oscillating between a dark Grenat and a deep ruby. It is very characteristic. As for all the wines, its Arôme S evolves/moves with the age. Tasted young person, it evokes the flower and the fruit, with dominant of Violette supported by a note of Cerise. With the years, its odorous pallet becomes more complex. Are added to it perfumes of iris, faded pinks, ripe spices, fruits then, with time, of the Truffe, of the Musc, an odor of venaison and even of Ambre gray. Tannic and fleshy, subtly spiced, the wines develop in mouth of complex savors, mixing smoothness and harmony. They are generally characterized by a length in remarkable mouth. It can preserve up to ten years, according to the years, with often, with the wire of time, a clear tendency to pinoter. The wines of windmill have a multi-secular reputation and the famous windmill of the hamlet of Thorins is used as recognition with the wines of the slope.
The vine is carried by a basement resulting from the disintegration of the Granite of Fleurie. It is formed out of friable and pink granitic sand arenas. The not very deep ground is rich in trace elements of which the Manganèse which one suspects the influence in quality of the wines. The directed slopes of south-eastern windmill present a good sunning. Their altitude varies between 250 m and 400 Mr.
Name is directed in the east vis-a-vis the valley of the the Saone. It is located around the hamlet of Thorins, with horse on the communes of Romanèche-Thorins in Saône-et-Loire and Chénas in the the Rhone. Fifteen climates are indexed: Carquelins, Rouchaux, Field of court, in Morperay, Burdelines, the Rock, Takes laths off it, Wood marshals, Pierre, the Joys, Rochegrès, La Rochelle, Champagne, the Cellars and Vérillats.
