Windjammers

Windjammers ( Flying Power Disc with the Japan) is a Video game of arcade developed and published by Data East. A version left on Neo-Geo in 1994, then on Neo-Geo CD.

Principle

The play consists of a sporting duel with the Frisbee on a rectangular ground, hybrid between a course of Tennis and a surface of Volley-ball.

The characters are separated by a net above which they must in turn return the disc with an aim of reaching one of the three basic cages of course behind the adversary to mark points. The number of points garnered at the time of a mark (three or five) is function of the position of the cage reached. When the frisbee finishes its race on the ground, following a Lob for example, the last launcher marks two points. The match is played in two or three rounds of two gaining sets. A sleeve is gained either by the first player marking twelve points, with two points of variations, or by the player raising the highest score at the conclusion of the prescribed time (30 seconds per defect).

The play presents a certain analogy with the sets of engagements, from its vindicatory aspects, voluntarily unrealistic and caricatural, for example the attitude in turn quarrelsome or mocker of the sportsmen. Each character in particular can, thanks to an adequate handling following a good reception, to produce an exceptional throw in the form of special blow , sometimes igniting the disc following the example NBA Jam and making it very difficult to intercept for the adversary.

Although relatively easy to take in hand (the play requires only one directional order and two buttons), Windjammers proposes a subtle Gameplay of which exploration lengthens its lifespan considerably.

In arcade mode, the player disputes a series of matches through planet to try to gain the supreme title of world champion. The diversity of surfaces recalls the great series of tournaments to tennis: ground beaten, grass, synthetic, cement or… sand. The confrontations are sometimes punctuated of consistent no-claims bonus training courses with launching further the frisbee possible or making use of it as of a ball from Bowling.

Characters

There are six protagonists in Windjammers , each one presenting of the different capacities forcing the player to adapt his style of play. It is thus easier to be replaced for the reception with a fast and not very powerful character, but to operate a good revival becomes undoubtedly more complex. The playable characters are, by order ascending of power and decreasing speed:
