Winchester (Connecticut)

Winchester is a city located in the Comté of Litchfield, in the State of the Connecticut (the United States). According to the census of 2000, Winchester had a total population of 10,664 inhabitants.

Geography

According to the Office of the census of the United States, surface of the east city of 87,6 km ², including 83,6 km ² of grounds and 4,0 km ² of water levels (either 4,61%).

Demography

According to the Census of 2000, there were 10.664 inhabitants, 4.371 households, and 2.849 families in the city. The Population density was of 127,6 hab/km ². There were 4.922 houses with a density of 58,9 maisons/km ². The ethnic decomposition of the population was: 94,44% white; 1,24% black; 0,23% Amerindian; 0,93% Asian S; 0,01% natives of the islands of the Peaceful ; 1,69% of the other races; 1,46% of two or more races. 3,17% of the population were Hispanique or Latino of any race.

There were 4.371 households, of which 28,3% had children of less than 18 years, 50,3% were married couples , 10,2% had a woman who was isolated relative, and 34,8% were not-family households. 28,0% of the households were made up people alone and 11,9% 65 years people alone or more. The average household comprised 2,42 people and the average family had 2,97 people.
