Win Smith

Win Smith (1887 - 1944) was a Dessinateur and American Illustrateur of Cartoons published in the press.

He began in the years 1920 in a newspaper from Phoenix in the Arizona. In 1930, it carries out the inking of the first strip of Mickey Mouse. The history was based on a scenario of Walt Disney and one finds Ub Iwerks with the drawing, and begins in a way similar to Plane Crazy (1929).

During the period from February in May 1930, it carries out only the drawing and inking because of the starting desires of Ub Iwerks. Win Smith seems to have proposed to deal with him only the two tasks but Walt Disney decided to name Floyd Gottfredson at the station of draftsman, temporary then official, task which it continued to make until 1975.

In 1934, Smith carries out drawings of arts for the version newspaper of the character of Harman-Ising, Bosko . Shortly after it illustrates, for the Western Publishing, the permiers comics of Bugs Bunny in the Looney Tunes and the Merrie Melodies.

In 1938, it works as scenario writer for Oswald Lucky Rabbit , character created by Disney and IWerks but become the property of Walter Lantz.

Then it decides to become professor of drawing to the college, work which it carries out until his death in 1944.
