Win Chock
U Win Tin is a Burmese journalist born on March 12th 1929.
He was writer of the newspaper Hanthawati , vice-president of the Association of the Burmese Writers and founder of the National league for the Democracy . Decree in July 1989, it is condemned to 14 years of prison to belong to the Burmese Communist party , prohibited. He is imprisoned in Insein (Rangoon). In 1996, its sorrow is lengthened 5 years for violation of the standards of the prison on the possession of material of writing.
It received in 2001 the world Prix of freedom of the press decreed by UNESCO, as well as the Plume of gold of freedom. However it is always in prison, in spite of its great age and its delicate health condition. Its sorrow finishes in 2008, except if it agreed to give up any political activity, which it refuses obstinately.
He was a close adviser of Aung San Suu Kyi, Nobel Prize of peace in 1991 and since 2003.
