Bo Win (May 24th, 1911 or July 10th, 1910 - December 5th, 2002, born Shu Maung ) was a Burmese soldier and the strong man of Burma of 1962 with 1988.

First weapons in the rows of the army

Win was not named Head of State major of the Burmese armed forces, the January 31st 1949. It arrived at the head of the Burmese government of the October 28th 1958 until the April 4th 1960.

Military dictatorship

It was named with the head of the revolutionary council and Prime Minister after his Coup d'etat of the March 2nd 1962. He exercised then a mandate of president elected of the “Union of the Socialist Republic of Burma” of the March 4th 1974 with the November 9th 1981. He was especially with the head of the Burmese Party of the Socialist Program (BSPP) of 1962 to 1988.

Follower of the ritual cabalists yadaya , and superstitious with figure 9, it in particular made create cuts of tickets of 90 kyats.

Called into question of the mode and disgrace

Following the demonstrations against the mode, Win is not dislocated of its functions by the military junta.
