Williams FW25
FW25 is a F1 of the stable Williams, committed during the season 2003. Its pilots were Ralf Schumacher, Juan Pablo Montoya and Marc Gené.
History
After two years of rise to power of the combination Williams - BMW, marked several victories and of a statute of challenger number one of Ferrari, the leaders of the stable germano-British see in 2003 the ideal year for finally removing a title. And it is true that on paper the package seemed also powerful forever: pair of pilots of very high level, already victorious of Grands Prix, powerful engine, powerful tires Michelin and effective frame. However the beginning of the season will be favorable to the other stable germano-British, the large rival McLaren - Mercedes, with two victories in two Grands Prix (Coulthard in Australia, Räikkönen in Malaysia). Montoya could have gained in Australia without a head with tail.
The chaos of the Brazilian test, crowning with the general surprise Giancarlo Fisichella on Jordan and vexations of Ferrari always engaging l'" antique" F2002 confirms that this championship is more open than ever. Unfortunately Williams completely misses his beginning of the season, Montoya giving up whereas it was on the podium in Austria, whereas F2003-GA makes it possible Michael Schumacher to be started again in the race with the title. Monaco marks the true beginning of the season of the stable of Grove: Ralf Schumacher signs the pole and Montoya allocates the victory in front of Kimi Räikkönen.
Second pole consecutive and first line 100% Williams in Canada, where nothing seems able to prevent one doubled for the two pilots of the stable. Except Schumacher in great form on its Ferrari, which, with a car less powerful than its rival, arrives at the end of a strategy perfectly carried out to precede the two Williams pilots! These missed points will be expensive at the time of the final calculation, but for the moment the Championship is under the cut of the British stable: doubled in Europe and France (Schumacher in front of Montoya), victory in Germany for the Colombian. From the Hungarian test (which saw the first victory of Fernando Alonso over the Renault R23) the season turns to the disaster: two races before the end of the season, Montoya has only three points of delay on Schumacher, after being dominated in Monza by the German, but it is sanctioned in the USA for a fixing with Rubens Barrichello which removes any chance to him to be crowned this season. It leaves for a clear victory to Japan, for the honor, before hydraulics of its FW27 does not give up it.
Assessment of the season: Williams was certainly the best car of the plate and its pilots did not déméritèrent, but many small accumulated errors led to the sixth title of Schumacher, and the fifth consecutive one for Ferrari.
