Williams FW17

FW17 is a single-seater of Formule 1 of the committed stable Williams during the season 1995, with the hands of Damon Hill and David Coulthard.

History

After the double shock of died of Ayrton Senna and loss of the title pilots in a litigious way to the profit of Michael Schumacher, it is with a spirit of revenge that the team Williams approaches the season 1995. With a British pair of pilots and great talent, the task seems feasible, if FW17 answers their waitings. It is propelled by V10 Renault and tires Goodyear. As of the sleeve of opening of the season, Damon Hill sign the pole position but must give up on breaking of suspension, leaving the victory to its rival: Michael Schumacher, David Coulthard finishes second. In Argentina the first line is 100% Williams, Coulthard in front of Hill, this last being essential after the abandonment of its team-member. It will still be essential on San Marino, in front of the Ferrari of Jean Alesi and Gerhard Berger. It will be necessary to await the Grand Prix of Hungary, that is to say seven tests to see a FW17 later imposing itself, that of Damon Hill. However the Williams is not enough any more powerful to compete with the Benetton of Schumacher and a version B will be prepared: the Williams FW17B, conceived under the crook of Patrick Head and Adrian Newey.
